Neuroendocrine tumors (NET) make up about half of the malignant cancer cells in the small intestine. They are also less common in other organs of the digestive system or in the lungs or skin. About ten percent of the cases in the small intestine are gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST).

In Germany, around 3,400 people were diagnosed with small intestine cancer in 2019. 1,700 of them are women. In around 70 percent of those affected, the disease was already at an advanced stage when diagnosed (UICC III / IV). With our small intestine cancer enzyme No. 5, the growth and spread of cancer cells in the organism are slowed down.
Cancer cells use various strategies to bypass the body's natural immune defenses. To wander to other parts of the body undetected, they camouflage themselves with a cover made of an endogenous substance. However, small intestine cancer enzyme No. 5 can recognize these cells and destroy them. This effectively prevents metastases.
Cancer cells can also form structures that the immune system classifies as harmful and destroys them. As a result, living cancer cells remain undetected and can multiply freely. This deception is also undermined by the small intestine cancer enzyme No. 5, which splits these camouflaging structures.
